Covering almost half of Lexington County, Lexington School District One has been one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. Since 2003, the district has added 10 new schools with another expected to open for the 2013-2014 school year. On average approximately 511 new students have joined the district each year for the past ten years.
There are currently 29 schools in the Lexington District 1 family with 16 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 5 high schools and 1 technology center. This esteemed district received the “Excellent” Absolute Rating on the 2012-2013 district report card released by the South Carolina Department of Education, which is the highest designation possible.
The new Lexington One Schools of the Future – Now! initiative prepares students to be a new generation of leaders and global citizens. Comprised of three components: LexLeads, LexLearns and LexLives, the initiative serves as a guide for students through their school career to boost confidence, encourage 21st century skills and cultivate global thinking and learning. This program will work to implement 21st century learning models for the 21st century graduate. Focusing on language, math, science, technology and engineering, theSchools of the Future – Now! initiative will give students the tools, perspective and skills needed to adapt and succeed.
