Dit and Jim Avinger share their thoughts on Saluda River Club
Just before Dit and Jim Avinger’s third son left home for college, the couple decided it was time to downsize. At the time they were living on Lake Murray after many years in the Orangeburg area.
“We looked and looked,” recalls Dit, “and finally found Saluda River Club.” They were thrilled with the neighborhood and purchased a Parade of Homes home constructed by Vesta Builders in 2009.
Although the home was lovely, the Avingers realized that they had downsized more than they really wanted to. They decided to build a larger home in Saluda River Club so they wouldn’t have to leave the community they had grown to love.
“We had built three custom homes in the past, so the process wasn’t daunting,” says Dit. They chose a lot just down the street from their first Saluda River Club home and engaged Vesta Builders.
The home has a distinctly European feeling and offers more than 4,800 square feet of living space for Dit, Jim and their family. The exterior is white stucco with charming blue shutters and an outdoor kitchen.
Other features include custom-glazed kitchen cabinets, eight-foot French doors and a fleur-de-lis stained glass skylight that Dit helped design. The Avingers couldn’t be happier with their choice.
In addition to the beautiful setting, they appreciate the fact that the community is multi-generational. “It doesn’t matter what age or phase of life you’re in, Saluda River Club can accommodate you,” adds Dit. “We found a place that totally meets our needs with the best location and lifestyle. We’re here to stay!”
